One day I stumbled upon a open source LED controller project called WLED (website: https://kno.wled.ge/). It looked promising so I gave it a try. The project only provides software for ESP32. You have to build the boards on your own.
Super slim, so i used it behind a mirror. Basically PCB plus ESP module thickness. I used WROOM32 neki neki.
Designed for all sorts of LEDs. addressable, mosfet controlled. multiple led strips communicating and syncing over wifi.
ESP is server. Phone app, PC app accessible over WIFI. No need for IR controller but can be added. ALexa intergration,
Only difficulties with microphones. Its best to use recommended ones. Also have to install different firmware.
